Reward offered after dog killed with crossbow
BALTIMORE — A national animal welfare advocacy organization is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture of a person who shot and killed a dog with a crossbow, reports CBS Baltimore.
The dog, named Bronx, was found by his family on their porch of their rural western Maryland home on Oct. 21, with an arrow protruding from his body. PETA is offering the reward, the station reports.
Jennifer Collier told the station that she adopted the German shepherd-beagle mix as a therapy dog for her 8-year-old son last year.
“They spent all their time together. He actually slept in the bed with my son. They were pretty much inseparable,” Collier said.
After letting him outside at around 6:30 a.m., the family found him on the porch about 20 minutes later, bleeding heavily.
Washington County Deputy Carly Hose said authorities are searching for clues in the case.
“It’s a horrible way for an animal to die,” Hose said. “It obviously is very cruel and we need to find justice for Bronx.”
