Report: Search for missing NYU law grad underway
NEW YORK -- A graduate of the NYU law school reportedly vanished a week ago and friends and family members are starting to get worried, according to CBS New York.
Landon Thomas, 25, was last seen April 27, according to his roommate, Roman Zamishka. According to the station, Zamishka has since led to the efforts to find Thomas -- calling hospitals, posting fliers and creating a "Help Find Landon Thomas" Facebook group.
Dozens of fliers can be seen in the section of Harlem near 145th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard, where Thomas was last seen. According to the station, the NYPD has opened a missing persons case.
Thomas and Zamishka were reportedly packing up their current apartment in Harlem and moving into a new one in Queens. Thomas was supposed to be at home -- packing up his belongings, but when Zamishka came home around 6 p.m. last Monday, April 27, he was nowhere to be found.
Originally from Kalamazoo, Mich., Thomas, who graduated from NYU law last year, was under a lot of pressure, studying to pass the bar exam, his roommate told CBS New York.
His mother told the station she hopes that he's out there and that nothing is wrong.
"I just know he's out there somewhere, and I just don't know what's going on," Patricia Thomas said.
According to CBS New York, Thomas is about 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs about 300 pounds. He was last seen wearing white sneakers, a black sweater and jeans.
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS. They can also submit tips by visiting the Crime Stoppers website or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
The university also released a statement, saying the law school is actively assisting in the search and is asking anyone with information to contact Dean of Students Arthur Fama as soon as possible.
