Report of armed man at Detroit municipal building

DETROIT, Mich. -- The first floor of Detroit's city hall was evacuated Monday morning after police received reports of an armed man inside the building, reports CBS Detroit.

The incident was reported at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center in downtown Detroit shortly after 9 a.m. Monday.

Speaking to reporters around 10 a.m., Detroit Police Chief James Craig said police looking for a man, possibly in his 50s, with a handgun in a bag.

Police believe the man may still be in the building, reports the station. He stressed it is not considered an active shooter situation.

A source told the station that people on other floors of the building were put on lockdown after what they were told was a "security breach."

A SWAT team was responding to the scene. No injuries were reported.
