Reports: Doctor awoke to group stabbing him with syringes, knives

GROSSE POINTE WOODS -- More details have emerged in the case of the ER doctor who was allegedly stabbed at his home and drove himself to the hospital, according to CBS Detroit.

The doctor, reportedly identified as James Millican, told police that he was woken up by four people assaulting him with syringes and knives, according to the Detroit News. The victim was then able to escape, driving from his home to St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren, where he works.

As the 43-year-old was admitted for surgery, hospital security guards then notified police of the situation, according to the station. It is unclear how badly he was injured.

He is now said to be recovering in fair condition.

The police investigation is still ongoing, according to the station.
