Report: Bride-to-be, sister stabbed amid bachelorette weekend
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A suspect is facing charges after two women -- reportedly a bride-to-be and her sister celebrating a bachelorette weekend -- were stabbed in the chest early Sunday in downtown Louisville.
Kalief Cummings, 45, was taken into custody Monday after surveillance footage linked him to the stabbings, reports CBS affiliate WLKY.
WHAS identified the victims as 27-year-old Sherrie Snader and her sister Melissa, who family said were visiting Louisville from Cincinnati with a group celebrating Sherrie's bachelorette weekend.
Police told WHAS the women were returning to their hotel around 2:30 a.m. when they were approached by a man. Police said there was some sort of interaction between the women and the man before both women were stabbed.
The women fled and were able to contact authorities.
Both women suffered a collapsed lung, reports WKLY. WHAS reports that the injuries were non-life-threatening.
One of the victims identified Cummings from surveillance footage, WKLY reports. He reportedly admitted he was pictured. Cummings faces two charges of first-degree assault.
Sherrie Snader's father told WHAS he wasn't sure if his daughter's wedding -- set for Aug. 29 -- would go on as scheduled.
