Raven-Symone joins "The View" as co-host
"The View" has found a new co-host in Raven-Symone.
Whoopi Goldberg announced Wednesday that the actress, who rose to fame on "The Cosby Show," has joined the all-gal panel. Her stint starts immediately.
Raven-Symone, 29, is no stranger to the ABC chat show. She's served as a guest host 38 times. Now she'll have a permanent seat alongside Goldberg, Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez.
"I remember coming to show with the Cheetah Girls when I was 15," Symone said on Wednesday's show. "I'm very happy to be sitting with these smart, talented mentors."
"Being a part of 'The View' family will be a wonderful growing experience for me. The cast and crew are warm and welcoming and have made the transition into daytime talk easier. I have a lot to learn within this new arena, but being the apprentice of these spectacular women will only make me a better person and talk show host," she added.
"The View" has faced a lot of changes recently, with departures from Rosie O'Donnell, Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy. Barbara Walters, who launched the show, retired from her regular on-camera role in 2014 and now serves as an executive producer.
Raven-Symone also starred in the Disney Channel show "That's So Raven" and has appeared on ABC's "black-ish" and on Fox's "Empire."
