Randolph Air Force Base in Texas on lockdown as authorities look for suspect

People within the Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph report that the base is on lockdown Saturday night, according to CBS affiliate KENS-TV in San Antonio, Texas. Text messages were sent to those on the base urging them to "shelter-in-place" and to lock all doors.

The lockdown appears to have been a result of a car with three passengers entering the base illegally, according to the U.S. Air Force.

The Air Force says two people were detained and a third suspect is being sought by officials.

The U.S. Air Force tweeted out a press release Saturday night saying that an investigation is on-going and that an update will be given to the media at 9:15 p.m. local time:

The search for the third suspect by security forces is being assisted by the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office and DPS, according to the Air Force.

San Antonio Express-News writes that Dan Hawkins, a spokesman for Joint Base San Antonio, didn't know what kind of vehicle was involved, but believed it went through the fence line on the east side of the base. The website adds that officials say the suspects are unarmed civilians.

The base posted a message to its Facebook page with more details about the incident:
