"Rambo" coming to TV with Sylvester Stallone attached

"Rambo" is expected to return in TV series form.

The movie franchise is headed to Fox, reports Deadline. Called "Rambo: New Blood," the show will be executive produced by Sylvester Stallone, the star of the original film series.

Stallone played John Rambo, a Vietnam War veteran and former U.S. Army Special Forces soldier in the movies "First Blood" (1982), "Rambo: First Blood Part II" (1985), "Rambo III" (1988) and "Rambo" (2008).

The new series is expected to follow Rambo and his son, J.R., a former Navy SEAL. It's unclear whether Stallone, 69, will also act in the series.

Stallone, meanwhile, is having success with "Creed," the new "Rocky" movie, which hit theaters last week and stars Michael B. Jordan.
