Rachel Roy insists she's not Becky with the Good Hair
Fashion designer Rachel Roy would like to do away with her new image as an internet-famous homewrecker following the release of Beyonce's "Lemonade."
Rumors quickly began circulating after one of Beyonce's new tracks references "Becky with the Good Hair" and Roy -- who had previously been rumored to be at the center of Jay Z cheating rumors -- posted an allusion to the nickname on Instagram.
Beyonce's fans quickly descended on Roy's social media presence, prompting her to retreat and make her accounts private.
Roy finally spoke out Tuesday, releasing a statement to People magazine: "I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest," she said. "My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors."
"Consequently, online haters have targeted me and my daughters in a hurtful and scary manner, including physical threats," she continued. "As a mother -- and I know many mothers would agree -- I feel that bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable. I would hope that the media sees the real issue here - the issue of cyber bullying -- and how it should not be tolerated by anyone."
Roy also addressed the bullying issue on Twitter:
