Mulroney plays a surgeon, Dr. Walter Wallace, enlisted by a tech billionaire to work in a free, cutting-edge hospital that takes on patients with interesting or rare cases.

The actor said he “guarantees” people will watch what happens on “Pure Genius” and look into whether it can be applied in real life.

“We’ll be on Thursday nights at 10 for the foreseeable future, and Friday morning, people are going to be calling their doctors and saying, ‘Hey, can we get that for my grandma?’” Mulroney said Tuesday on “CBS This Morning.”

The show was created by writer and producer Jason Katims, known for “Friday Night Lights” and “Parenthood,” among other notable projects.

“As far as I’m concerned, Jason Katims [is] the best or one of the best that pulls people’s characters out in his stories,” Mulroney said, adding that they’re “in great hands.”

“You’ll of course be absorbed by the medical drama, and you’ll be intrigued by the tech angle. But really, what you’ll be watching is human stories with these great characters he’s created,” Mulroney said.

Watch CBS’ “Pure Genius” starting this Thursday, 10/9 p.m. CT.
