Prosecutors: Suspect "celebrated" murder by ordering Chinese takeout

MALDEN, Mass. – Prosecutors say the man suspected of murdering an artist last month “celebrated” after the crime by ordering takeout, reports CBS Boston.

David Grossack was arraigned Wednesday in Malden District Court a day after he was arrested following a month on the run.

The station reports that Grossack was on the Massachusetts Most Wanted list for the February murder of Frank Brescia, a formerly homeless man who had battled with addiction before becoming an accomplished artist.

Investigators said Brescia was stabbed 14 times and suffered skull fractures. Police found a broken rolling pin near Brescia’s body, and say it had Grossack’s fingerprints on it.

Prosecutors say Grossack told police in a statement that he killed Brescia and “celebrated” the murder with Chinese food.

Brescia’s decomposing body was found inside an apartment in Everett, Massachusetts, after neighbors reported a strong odor.

On Tuesday, police arrested Grossack, who is homeless, in Pittsfield. Police said previously the crime does not appear to have been random.

During Grossack’s arraignment, friends of Brescia were sobbing in the courthouse.

Grossack was ordered held without bail until his next court appearance.
