"Prison Break" is returning to television

The reports are true: "Prison Break" is coming back to television.

Originally airing on Fox from 2005 to 2009, this serial drama will bring back its stars, Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, who play beleaguered brothers, for a 10-episode arc on Fox. The network announced the news at the 2015 Summer TCA press tour in Los Angeles on Thursday.

The original series has been a fixture on Netflix, where it demonstrated sustained popularity as "a whole new generation has caught up" with it, Fox said.

"[Series creator] Paul Scheuring came in and pitched a great story to bring the show back," said Fox's Gary Newman (per E! News). "It's going to bring back both brothers, Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, and Paul is busy writing the first episode. And once we have those written materials, I feel confident we're going to be going straight to series on that one."

Fox is describing it as a "bit of a sequel," with things picking up several years after we left the characters on the show.
