Pregnant Marine wife missing in Southern California

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. - Southern California authorities are asking for the public's help to find a pregnant woman, the wife of a Marine, who mysteriously vanished on the way to Joshua Tree National Park.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department says 19-year-old Erin Corwin was last seen leaving home on the morning of June 28.

Corwin's husband, Marine Cpl. Jonathan Corwin, reported her missing the next day. Authorities have said the husband is cooperating with the investigation.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Bachman tells the Riverside Press-Enterprise that "suspicious circumstances" surround the woman's disappearance and foul play hasn't been ruled out. An air and ground search didn't find her.

The 19-year-old is three months' pregnant. She and her husband are from Oak Ridge, Tenn., and live at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms.

Erin Corwin's car, a blue, 2013 Toyota Corolla with the license plate 7CJX519, was found Monday near the base. Her phone, bank and social media accounts have not been touched since she disappeared, reports CBS Los Angeles.

The missing woman's family flew in from Tennessee upon hearing of their daughter's disappearance. Lore Heavilin, Erin Corwin's mother, said she had been planning to visit her daughter and that the reason she was headed to Joshua Tree National Park was to check it out as a possible spot they could go together.

"I mean, she was so excited about that upcoming trip. The things we were going to do," Heavilin told the station.

"I'd give anything to give her a hug right now," the distraught mother added.

Erin Corwin is described as white, 5 feet 2 inches tall, 120 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call (909)-387-3589.
