What Pope Francis will be doing in Washington Thursday

WASHINGTON -- Pope Francis on Thursday will become the first pope ever to address a joint meeting of Congress. This is one of four English-language speeches the pope is delivering in the U.S. The rest are in his native Spanish.

On Wednesday, his remarks on the White House South Lawn marked the first official stop on his first trip to the U.S., a three-city tour including Washington, New York and Philadelphia. After the South Lawn ceremony, and a meeting with the president, he rode the Popemobile in a parade around the Washington monument, met with bishops for noon prayers, delivered a full mass in Spanish and performed the first canonization on U.S. soil - of Hispanic missionary Father Junipero Serra.

Here's what his final day in Washington looks like:

9:15am Pope Francis arrives at the U.S. Capitol and meets with House Speaker John Boehner, who extended the invitation to to him to address Congress.

10:00am The pope addresses a joint meeting of Congress. His speech will be broadcast on the West Front of the Capitol, where thousands are expected to be watching

10:30am He will walk through Statuary Hall in the Capitol to view the statue of Junipero Serra, whom he canonized Wednesday afternoon.

10:45am He'll walk out to the Speaker's West Balcony and wave to the people who gathered on the West Front of the Capitol.

11:15am The Pope arrives at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where he will meet and speak in Spanish to 200 Catholic Charities clients, many of whom are low-income, have medical and mental health issues, and many are immigrants.

11:40am He spends time with Catholic Charities clients during lunch

4:00pm Pope Francis departs Washington, en route New York

5:00pm He arrives in New York, at JFK International Airport

6:45pm Pope Francis goes to St. Patrick's Cathedral for Vespers service
