​Police to charge boy, 17, with cruelty for decapitating cat

BLACK LICK, Pa. -- State police plan to charge a 17-year-old western Pennsylvania boy with animal cruelty for decapitating a cat with a hatchet.

Police said the Black Lick, Pa., boy first injured the cat on Oct. 12 by kicking it. According to a news release, the boy then cut off the cat's head "due to injuries sustained."

The cat was owned by a 50-year-old woman.

Police didn't say whether she knew or was related to the boy, who isn't being identified because he'll be charged in juvenile court.

Black Lick is about 45 miles east of Pittsburgh.
