Police officer reported shot in Albuquerque, N.M.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Albuquerque police say an officer has been shot near a busy intersection on the southeastern edge of town.

Dozens of officers had the area, including a fast food restaurant, cordoned off. They didn't immediately release any details about the shooting, the condition of the officer or whether they are searching for a suspect.

Witnesses gathered near the scene say they saw officers take a man into custody, but it wasn't clear how he was related to the case.

Friday's shooting comes less than a week after another officer was shot and wounded after pulling over a convicted felon on suspicion of driving drunk.

The officer injured in that case, Lou Golson, is in stable condition at a hospital and the suspect is being held on attempted murder and other charges.
