Police: NY woman lied when she claimed she was slashed
NEW YORK --A New York City woman who claimed a man called her a terrorist and slashed her face in has recanted her statement, according to police.
The woman, who is of Middle Eastern descent, claimed a man grabbed her, called her a terrorist and then slashed her on the face while she was walking down a street on Thursday afternoon, reports CBS New York.
Police said Friday that the 20-year-old woman has now admitted it was lie and said their investigation found her wound was self-inflicted.
The woman was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
Police said her injuries were not life-threatening.
