Police name main suspect in L.A. Halloween hit-and-run deaths

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Southern California police have arrested a 31-year-old man in the hit-and-run deaths of three teenage girls who had gone trick-or-treating on Halloween.

Santa Ana police Chief Carlos Rojas said Monday that Jaquinn Bell of Orange was booked for investigation of felony hit-and-run causing death.

The chief says the Orange County district attorney's office is considering the case.

Authorities say 13-year-old twin sisters, Lexi and Lexandra Huerta Perez, and their 13-year-old friend Andrea Gonzalez were struck and killed Friday night in a Santa Ana crosswalk, only two blocks from home.

The police chief says Bell had two minor children in the vehicle with him at the time and they have been released.

Police believe Bell was driving the Honda with his two children, reports CBS Los Angeles.

A damaged black Honda SUV was found a short distance from where the collision occurred.

CBS Los Angeles spoke with the twins' mother, Cynthia Huerta.

"It's not fair, it's not fair. He's free and I'm without my daughters," Huerta said in Spanish. "I can't find the words to describe this intense pain."
