Police: Man hacked off hand of home intruder with machete
NORTHAMPTON, Pa. - Officials in eastern Pennsylvania say a man who said he was attacked by two masked men during a home invasion cut off the hand of one of them with a machete.
Bethlehem police said a man was dumped at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday at the emergency ward at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg with a severed hand and multiple lacerations.
Chief Mark DiLuzio said the injuries stemmed from an incident in Northampton, where a resident told The (Allentown) Morning Call that his 28-year-old son was attacked as he was sleeping in the basement of their home.
He said two masked men crept inside through a cellar door and fired several shots from a BB gun, so his son grabbed a machete and started swinging.
Northampton police haven't commented on their investigation.
