Police: Man fatally stabbed over last piece of chicken

HOUSTON -- Police say one man was fatally stabbed by another in a dispute over food during dinner in a Houston apartment Friday night, according to CBS affiliate KHOU.

Reinaldo Cardoso Rivera, 38, has been charged in the death of 34-year-old Darwin Perez Gonzalez, in an argument over the last piece of chicken, reported the station.

The two men and three others were reportedly making dinner and drinking at an apartment complex on Oct. 30.

According to police, Rivera became upset when Gonzalez went for that last piece of chicken. The argument then escalated into a fistfight in the parking lot.

Rivera allegedly stabbed Gonzalez and fled the scene with a knife. The victim died at the scene, according to police.

When Rivera later returned, he was reportedly taken into custody and charged with murder after allegedly admitting to police that he stabbed Gonzalez.
