Cops: Man charged with killing wife, burying in basement
WELCH, W.Va. --A McDowell County man has been arrested after deputies say he killed his wife and buried her in his basement.
The McDowell County Sheriff's Office said a news release that 35-year-old Woody Wood Jr. was arrested Saturday. He's charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Rebecca Wood.
Deputies say they received a call Friday night that Rebecca Wood hadn't been seen in several days and that her husband may be a person of interest.
Sheriff Martin B. West says deputies obtained a search warrant and after searching Woody Wood's home, they found that he had killed his wife and buried her in the basement.
No further details have been released, including how she died.
It isn't clear if Woody Wood has an attorney.
