Police investigate toddler, 3, found fatally shot in S.C. home

ROCK HILL, S.C. --A toddler is dead after shooting himself inside a South Carolina home over the weekend, officials said Monday, according to CBS affiliate WBTV.

Officers found 3-year-old Savion Barrow with a gunshot wound when they responded to a home in the Charlotte, North Carolina, metropolitan area, according to the station. Barrow was taken to hospital and pronounced dead by medical staff.

Medics tried to save Barrow on the way to the hospital but were unsuccessful, officials say.

According to a county coroner, another child and adult were inside the home at the time. Their relationship to Barrow has not been released.

Police are investigating and have not said how the child got his hands on the gun.
