Police: Infant among three fatally shot in Kansas City home

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police say three people, including an infant, were found fatally shot at a south Kansas City home, reports CBS affiliate KCTV.

Capt. Tye Grant says a family member returned home and discovered the bodies of a man, woman and infant Tuesday. Grant said in a statement early Wednesday that officers arrived around 9:30 p.m.

He says all the victims appear to have been shot to death. He also told reporters that officers were in the process of interviewing family members and neighbors and wouldn't be able to provide updates until the interviewing process is complete, according to the station.

Investigators aren't sure what led to the shootings.

Police do not yet have a description of a suspect, but Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker urged community members to come forward and tell people what they know about the case, according to KCTV.

Kansas City Police Chief Darryl Forte and Mayor Sly James also reportedly visited the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
