Police: 5 injured in D.C. jail stabbing
WASHINGTON -- Five people were injured after being stabbed with a homemade weapon at a Washington D.C. jail Thursday night.
Corrections officials told CBS affiliate WUSA inmates got into a fight inside of the jail in southeastern Washington around 8:30 p.m.
Three people were transported to area hospitals, including two with serious injuries, suffering from puncture wounds and lacerations from a homemade shank. Officials said none of the injuries were life-threatening.
No responding corrections officers were injured while breaking up the fight.
The jail officials did not know the cause or motive of the fight and said an investigation was underway.
