Pizza guy finds unexpected fame at Oscars
LOS ANGELES -- A delivery to the Dolby Theater on Oscar night? Big Mama's and Papa's Pizzeria owner Edgar Martirosyan told CBS Los Angeles he thought the pies were being ordered for writers backstage.
Instead, Martirosyan found himself being escorted by host Ellen DeGeneres down the red carpeted theater on Hollywoo''s biggest night, holding out pizzas so Hollywood icons like Harrison Ford, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts could take a slice.
The day after the 86th annual Academy Awards, Martirosyan has found himself in the spotlight - from the paparazzi and Oscar watchers interested in the pizza that Hollywood's elite noshed on Sunday night.
"I just got a call. They told me they need this many pizzas and we made it and then I delivered it," Martirosyan said.
Martirosyan said he delivered the order because the restaurant was slammed that night. He said he thought the pizzas would be going to writers backstage - then Ellen told him, "Follow me."
Now, those same stars and families are tweeting about getting pizza at the Oscars. "Scandal" star Kerry Washington posted a photo of herself chowing down in her Oscar gown on Instagram. So the buzz has created a boost for his business.
"We ditched law school to be here today," one woman with three friends said before sitting down with their slices at Big Mama's and Papa's Pizzeria.
