FBI "Ten Most Wanted" fugitive arrested at U.S./Mexico border
SAN YSIDRO, Calif. -- Philip Patrick Policarpio, a fugitive who was recently added to the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted" list, was apprehended Sunday as he attempted to enter the U.S. from Mexico, according to the FBI Los Angeles.
Policarpio, a convicted felon, was wanted by the LAPD in the April murder of his pregnant girlfriend and her unborn fetus in Los Angeles. The FBI announced his addition to the notorious list May 19, along with 28-year-old Luis Macedo, who is still at large. Policarpio is also facing a federal charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Policarpio was taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at the San Ysidro Port of Entry as he was crossing into the United States from Tijuana, according to the FBI Los Angeles. The FBI says he was arrested on U.S. soil.
Officials say Policarpio got into an argument with his girlfriend, who was 17 weeks pregnant, on April 12. He allegedly beat the woman with his fists and then shot her in the head, killing her instantly.
At the time of the killing, Policarpio was on parole for a conviction in 2001.
