Pennsylvania farmer crushed to death by own tractor

SALTSBURG, Pa. - An 87-year-old man is dead after authorities say he was thrown from his tractor and crushed by the vehicle at his western Pennsylvania farm.

Indiana County's coroner says Clarence Coleman suffered blunt force trauma to the head and chest in the accident around 6 p.m. Monday in Saltsburg.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. says Coleman backed the International Harvester Farmall tractor over the edge of a steep hill, causing it to roll and toss him to the ground.

Overman says the tractor then rolled on top of Coleman, causing his fatal injuries.

Saltsburg is about 35 miles east of Pittsburgh.
