Paul McCartney postpones U.S. tour dates to recover from virus
Paul McCartney is postponing the kickoff of his U.S. tour as he continues to recover from a virus he contracted last month.
The former Beatle, who turns 72 next week, announced Monday that dates scheduled for June 14-26 will be rescheduled for mid-October. The U.S. leg of his "Out There" world tour will now begin July 5 in Albany, N.Y.
"I'm sorry but it's going to be a few more weeks before we get rocking in America again," McCartney said in a statement. "I'm feeling great but taking my docs' advice to take it easy for just a few more days. Look forward to seeing you all soon."
In May, McCartney canceled his Japan tour and a performance in South Korea because of his illness. A rep for the singer said he received "successful medical treatment" at a hospital in Tokyo and will make a complete recovery.
Tickets for the seven postponed shows will be honored on their new dates. The tour now wraps on Oct. 28 in Louisville, Ky.
