Oscars 2016: Chris Rock goes on social media "blackout" until ceremony
Don't expect to hear much online from Oscars host Chris Rock between now and Sunday evening.
The comedian and director announced Friday that he's undergoing a social media "blackout" until the ceremony broadcast begins.
Some were quick to speculate that Rock's use of the #blackout hashtag was his way of breaking his silence on the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, but that seems highly unlikely. Rock has stayed out of the discussion of the Academy's lack of diversity and calls for boycott of the ceremony, except to say that he reworked his opening monologue after the issue started dominating headlines.
