One injured in shooting at S.C. State University dorm

ORANGEBURG, S.C. - Officials at South Carolina State University say a student has been injured in a shooting at an on-campus dorm.

The university sent out an alert saying the student was hurt Friday afternoon at the Hugine Suites. The school says police think they know who fired the gun and are looking for the suspect. The name and condition of the injured student were not released.

University spokeswoman Sonya Bennett initially said the university campus was not on lockdown. But the school later sent out an alert saying the campus was locked down.

South Carolina State University is a historically black university with about 3,200 students in Orangeburg, about 40 miles south of Columbia.
