Oklahoma murder suspect tracked down in Chicago
CHICAGO -- Police searching for a man wanted for murder in Tulsa, Okla., tracked him all the way to his girlfriend's apartment in Chicago, reports CBS affiliate KOTV.
Roderick Whiteside is suspected of fatally shooting Cedrick Gilmer June 9 at a motel party. Investigators said Gilmer went to a party at the motel after posting on Facebook that he was carrying a large amount of cash.
Gilmer suffered three gunshot wounds to the chest and head, and police believe the motive for his murder was robbery.
Whiteside was arrested Wednesday after officers with the Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force and the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force found him in Chicago.
Whiteside's girlfriend, 21-year-old Jasmine Coleman, also was arrested on first-degree murder charges.
Investigators are also looking for Claude Calvin, 24, in connection to the case. A warrant was issued for his arrest this week.
Tulsa Police Department Sgt. Dave Walker said in a statement that forensic testing may also implicate another person in the murder, according to police.
"This person has denied any involvement in the crime and denied being at the scene," Walker said. "DNA testing will determine the validity of his statement."
