Ohio pastor's video on Orlando shooting goes viral
GROVE CITY, Ohio -- Facebook video from Grove City pastor Dave Bever addressing the shooting at an Orlando nightclub has been viewed more than 10 million times, reports CBS10 in Ohio.
In the video, Bever is shown standing outside the CrossLink Community Church discussing how the news out of Orlando felt like someone "punched him in the soul."
"The senseless act of terrorism ... the hate of terrorism, strikes once again," he said.
Bever goes on to talk about others who have called the shooting deaths of 49 people an act of God.
"I've read some really ignorant and I've listened to some really ignorant church people, Christians and pastors say some very hateful and horrible things that are biblically untrue," he said.
Bever's post is in stark contrast to a Sacramento Baptist preacher's sermon praising the attack, which also caught headlines. On the same Sunday of the attack, recordings of the sermon by Pastor Roger Jimenez surfaced on the Verity Baptist Church's YouTube account.
"Are you sad that 50 pedophiles were killed today?" he said in the sermon. "Um -- no -- I think that's great! I think that helps society. I think Orlando, Florida is a little safer tonight."
