Official "Star Wars" poster released
"Star Wars" fans got their first look at the official poster for "The Force Awakens" on Sunday -- but where is Luke Skywalker?
The poster, by Bryan Morton, features characters new to the "Star Wars" universe, including Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe (Oscar Isaac), and the cloaked figures of Captain Phasma and Kylo Ren. Also featured are returning characters Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), and our first glimpse of Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher). The droids R2D2, C-3P0 and BB-8 are also along for the ride.
Noticeably missing, however, is Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and the First Order's General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson).
In addition to the release of a new trailer, Monday marks the day when tickets for the film, scheduled to open in the U.S. on December 18, go on sale.
Starswars.com also announced in-theater events leading up to the new movie's premiere, including marathon screenings of the previous six "Star Wars" films.
