Odd twist in ex-NFL cheerleader's child-rape case

BALTIMORE -- Not long after former NFL cheerleader Molly Shattuck began commenting on a 15-year-old boy's Instagram posts, Shattuck's 12-year-old son allegedly encouraged the teen to contact his mom, according to a search warrant obtained by CBS Baltimore.

"You should text my Mom, she is obsessed with you," Shattuck's son said, according to police.

Shattuck, 47, was indicted Monday on two counts of third-degree rape, four counts of unlawful sexual contact and three counts of providing alcohol to minors.

The alleged exchange between Shattuck's son and the 15-year-old set off a series of increasingly intimate and sexual meetings between Shattuck and the teen, according to the warrant.

In late June, after a string of "provocative" texts they allegedly met in-person, went for a walk and hugged. Later that month, they met again at a movie theater in Columbia, Md., where they allegedly engaged in sexual touching.

Police say that on five or six occasions in July, Shattuck met the teen during his summer chemistry class' one-hour lunch and brought him to a parking garage where they would "make out."

Shattuck rented a beach house in Delaware for Labor Day weekend, according to authorities, and invited the teen to stay overnight.

Police say Shattuck asked the teen to help her walk the dog and ended up having oral sex with him as her son and his other friends partied on the rooftop.

She allegedly stripped and and said "if he wanted to have sex, she would." The teen left the room and didn't come back.

He notified authorities in late September.

Shattuck is one of Baltimore's best known socialites, CBS Baltimore reports. Her estranged husband Mayo Shattuck is chairman of Exelon Energy Corporation and, at age 38, she was the oldest cheerleader in NFL history, earning a spot on the Baltimore Ravens' squad at 38.

Shattuck is currently in the midst of a divorce with her husband. They separated earlier this year.
