Object found on Florida beach could be rocket fragment

FORT LAUDERDALE -- An object discovered on Fort Lauderdale Beach Sunday may be a large piece of a rocket, CBS Miami reports.

The metal object seems to resemble the markings of the European Union's Galileo Satellite.

The fragment, found near 2033 N. Atlantic Boulevard, was surrounded by yellow crime scene tape.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is investigating how the debris ended up on the beach.
