Obama to participate in town hall on reducing gun violence
President Obama will participate in a live town hall on reducing gun violence in the U.S., according to a White House official.
On Thursday evening, from 8pm-9pm ET, Mr. Obama will join CNN's Anderson Cooper for a town hall in northern Virginia, at George Mason University. Cooper will be moderating the discussion, the official said, and the president will answer questions from the audience.
Earlier in the week, on Monday, the president will be meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch to discuss options on executive measures aimed at reducing gun violence.
For several months, since the mass shooting at an Oregon community college, White House and Justice Department lawyers have, under the president's direction, been reviewing measures the president can take unilaterally, combing the law to see if any unused administrative authority is available to him.
President Obama said in July that he has been "most frustrated and most stymied" by the country's inability to enact "sufficient, common sense gun safety laws."
