National Guard soldier charged in house party murder

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Police charged a member of the North Carolina National Guard with murder Monday in connection with a deadly house party shooting, reports CBS affiliate WRAL.

Matthew Brown, 23, was apprehended Monday by federal marshals. He is the second person charged with murder in the June 7 death of Leandre Laguerre. The other suspect, Demario Eastmon, was arrested June 10.

Fayetteville, N.C., police said officers were called at about 1:20 a.m. the night of Laguerre's death, after an argument at the party ended in gunfire. Two others were injured in the shooting.

Brown has been a soldier with the North Carolina National Guard for more than two years, a representative of the Guard told 48 Hours' Crimesider.

Brown and Eastmon remained in the Cumberland County jail Monday under no bond.
