2 shot by gunman outside Airbnb rental-house party

Two men shot at NYC birthday party

NEW YORK -- Two men were shot at a house party in New York City early Sunday morning, and police are searching for the shooter, reports CBS New York.

Police questioned witnesses and searched for evidence for hours Sunday, in front of the large home in Queens.

Authorities said the home was being rented out for a birthday party. It was previously advertised for rent on the website Airbnb, where it was offered for $500 per night. Neighbors said the owners routinely rented out the house.

When the soon-to-be victims left the party Sunday, there was an argument, police said. Then a man walked up, opened fire and fled, cops said.

Both victims were wounded in their torsos, according to police. A 27-year-old man is in critical condition. A 23-year-old man is in stable condition.

Police have not released a description of the suspected gunman.

The house sold in 2006 for $1.8 million.

The Daily News reports that people paid between $15 and $25 to enter the party, according to witnesses, and organizers hired hired security for the event. Party-goers younger than 21 were reportedly restricted from entering an area where alcohol was served.
