NY interracial couple possible target of hate graffiti
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. -- Police in New York are investigating a possible hate crime after racist graffiti was scrawled near a home where an inter-racial couple had recently moved in, reports CBS New York.
A suspect in a hoodie was caught on camera writing the graffiti, which included the n-word, on a car in a Long Island neighborhood Saturday night. The car owner tells the station he believed the graffiti was targeted at the couple, who recently moved in across the street.
The couple also recently received hate mail addressed to their elementary school-aged child that included threats and racially-charged insults, the station reports.
The Suffolk County Police bias squad is reportedly investigating as a possible hate crime.
