Neighbor killed suspect in Texas teen shower murder

TOMBALL, Texas -- Investigators say a Houston-area teenager stabbed to death while taking a shower was attacked by a man carrying a knife and a baseball bat.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says a neighbor fatally shot the suspect, 21-year-old Pablo Sanchez, during the attack at the victim's home Monday afternoon.

Authorities are trying to determine a motive for the slaying of 17-year-old Tyler Wade.

Sergeant Cedrick Collier of the Harris County Sheriff's Office says the front door might have been unlocked when Sanchez entered the victim's home. The teenager's 12-year-old sister ran next door to get help from a neighbor, who returned with a gun and shot Sanchez to stop the attack.

"The 12-year-old went over to the neighbor and said, 'Someone is stabbing my brother,'" said Sgt. Collier. Then the neighbor "retrieved a weapon and went next door," he said.

Family members told CBS affiliate KHOU that the neighbor was an off-duty Houston firefighter.

Counselors are available at Tomball Memorial High School, where the victim was a senior.
