NYC mom charged with murder after newborn found in trash bag

NEW YORK - A mother has been charged with murder after her newborn baby was found unconscious and unresponsive at a residence in Staten Island Saturday morning, reports CBS New York.

Authorities arrested 28-year-old Nausheen Rahman and charged her with second-degree murder and concealment of a human corpse.

Rahman had gone to Staten Island North Hospital Friday night because she wasn't feeling well. She said she had given birth five days earlier at home.

The body of the infant was found in a black trash, on the spot where garbage is collected in front of a home. The medical examiner will have to determine the cause of death, but investigators told CBS New York that the baby was born alive.
