Nashville police arrest two men in violent crime spree
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The search for two men wanted for a violent crime spree in Nashville ended Tuesday with the arrest of 18-year-old Terrance Kimbrough and 31-year-old Darryl Starks, reports CBS affiliate WTVF.
Kimbrough and Starks are believed to be behind a series of shootings in and around the J.C. Napier public housing development. Both men were on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's "Top 10 Most Wanted" list. They were taken into custody as they left an apartment in the Andrew Jackson public housing development.
The men were arrested Tuesday evening by members of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department's gang unit and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Law enforcement officials had been searching for the two since July 17, when warrants were issued charging them both with one count of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault.
Those charges stemmed from a shooting the day before in the J.C. Napier homes. Police say the men fired shots that hit Sheranda Jones in the head. She was holding her 7-month-old son at the time.
Since then, Kimbrough has also been indicted on first-degree murder charges for the December 2014 shooting death of 23-year-old Monte Watson, as well as the shooting death of Brendon Leggs in November 2014.
But that's not all the two men face. Police have also indicted Starks and Kimbrough on multiple counts of attempted murder and reckless endangerment charges stemming from a shooting on July 17 that left two women injured on Claiborne Street.
Starks has a lengthy criminal history. He was previously convicted of aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, fraud and reckless endangerment.
