$30K in rewards now being offered in deaths of bald eagles
BALTIMORE -- The American Bird Conservancy is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of those responsible for the deaths of 13 bald eagles in Maryland.
The birds were found dead on Maryland's Eastern Shore last month. Necropsy results of the eagles discovered ruled out disease. Last week, officials believed a human caused the deaths, reports CBS Baltimore.
Five bald eagles were found dead in Delaware last week. It is not known if the two incidents are related.
Rewards totaling up to $25,000 was already being offered by federal wildlife authorities and nonprofit organizations for any information that led to an arrest and conviction, according to the Baltimore Sun.The conservancy's reward brings the total reward offered in the crimes to $30,000.
Bald eagles are protected under state and federal law.
