Mother found holding dead daughter, 2, at Georgia bus station

ATLANTA - A 19-year-old mother is being charged with the murder of her 2-year-old daughter, reports CBS affiliate WNCT.

Alexus Washington faces one count of reckless conduct and one count of cruelty to children in the second degree. She is being held at Fulton County jail in Georgia on a $30,ooo bond.

According to the station, a preliminary autopsy report found that Washington's daughter, Ty'mia Simpson, had ligature marks around her neck and water in her lungs. A toxicology report is still pending, as is the official cause of death.

According to the station, Washington was found at Greyhound bus station holding the dead child.

Washington's family had reportedly expressed concern for the child's well-being before, and the Pitt County Department of Social Services confirmed that they had been involved with Washington and Ty'mia.

Washington will make her next court appearance on August 6th at the Fulton County Courthouse.
