Mother, daughter found floating in Coral Springs, Florida, community pool

CORAL SPRINGS, Florida — A mother and child drowned in a southern Florida community pool on Sunday, and police have yet to report a cause, reports CBS Miami.

Coral Springs Police Department Sgt. Carla Kmiotek said “it’s possible they were under the water over an hour.”

Two men discovered the 31-year-old woman and her 5-year-old daughter floating in the water at 1225 Riverside Drive, around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, and began administering CPR until rescue crews arrived.

The victims were taken to Broward Health Coral Springs where they were pronounced dead.

Investigators spoke to residents trying to piece together what exactly happened.

Officials said while the child was wearing a bathing suit, her mother was not. Though, they do believe it was their intention to go swimming.

Police have not released the victims’ names.
