Western Pa. explosion completely levels house; cause unknown

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. -- A gas explosion that leveled a home in the Pittsburgh suburbs on Thursday spared two dogs that were inside at the time. 

Around 4 p.m., Allegheny County emergency dispatchers confirmed crews were responding to a house explosion at 111 Convair Drive. Moon Township is located about 16 miles from Pittsburgh.  

Video from the CBS Pittsburgh helicopter shows the structure was completely leveled by the blast.

No injuries have been reported.

One of the dogs suffered an eye injury and burns. 

People’s Gas spokesman Barry Kukovich says crews are working to determine the cause of the explosion, which destroyed the house.

Workers shut off gas service to the neighborhood in Moon Township and went from home to home to check the lines.
