Missing Conn. couple's son arrested on gun charge
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A 27-year-old Connecticut man whose parents went missing last month has been arrested on a federal firearms charge.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says Kyle Navin is expected to appear in federal court in Bridgeport on Tuesday afternoon. Details of the charge weren't immediately released. He has not been charged in connection with his parents' disappearance.
Fifty-five-year-old Jeanette Navin and 56-year-old Jeffrey Navin, of Easton, haven't been seen since Aug. 4. Their pickup truck was found with a shattered window on Aug. 9 in a commuter lot off the Merritt Parkway in Westport.
Jeffrey Navin is president of J&J Refuse in Westport and Jeannette Navin is a school library aide in Weston. Kyle Navin also worked for the refuse business. State police have searched area landfills for the couple but have found no signs of human remains.
Kyle Navin was questioned by investigators following the disappearance of his parents, and state police spent hours searching his Bridgeport home, reports CBS affiliate WFSB. Police have called him a "person of interest" in the case.
At the time of the couple's disappearance, police said they learned that they owed more than $2 million, much of it tied to a home in Guilford.
Relatives have denied that their disappearance is related to the debt.
