Minnesota woman arrested in Kentucky for father's murder with sledge axe

MINNEAPOLIS -- A 38-year-old Minnesota woman has been arrested in Kentucky for the alleged murder of her father with a sledge axe, CBS Minnesota reports.

Authorities say Lisa May Kearney was arrested in Louisville and charged Wednesday with second-degree murder in connection with Jeffrey Eugene Schilling's death.

The victim was found dead Monday in his home in St. Cloud, Minn., but investigators believe he was killed sometime on Jan. 1 or Jan. 2. He died after being struck on the head with a splitting maul, or sledge axe, which was found near his body.

Kearney was found with some of her father's possessions, including his wallet and tablet computer, the station reported.

The neighbor who found him said he discovered Kearney on a couch with a blanket over his head.

Lisa May made her first court appearance Wednesday in Kentucky, where bail was set at $250,000.

She will be likely extradited back to Minnesota, the station reported.
