Miami middle school student faces murder charge

MIAMI - Prosecutors are asking a grand jury to charge a 14-year-old Miami boy with first degree murder, reports CBS Miami.

The teen is accused of gunning down a 20-year old man who was guiding his blind brother home on Aug. 11. The suspect has already been charged with second degree murder and two counts of attempted armed robbery.

Ramiro Izquierdo and his bother Javier were on their way home from a grocery store when they were confronted by two males who allegedly demanded money and possessions. When the brothers refused, one of the males began shooting, striking Izquierdo several times, according to police.

Arriving officers stopped a man running from the scene with a gun who they thought may have been part of the robbery attempt.

The man told police his friend, the middle school-age suspect, had given him the gun just before he rode off on a bicycle, according to the Miami Herald.

A second witness told police that the man who was found with the gun did not have anything to do with the robbery. That witness also reportedly identified the teen as the gunman.
