Melissa Etheridge sings about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorce
Melissa Etheridge is not done talking about the Brangelina divorce -- or singing about it, at least.
The singer-songwriter revealed on “Watch What Happens Live” that after she made some pretty cutting remarks about Angelina Jolie on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show, Jolie’s team contacted her.
“There are people whose business it is, whose job it is, to kind of fix things for celebrities,” Etheridge said to Cohen and fellow guest Kelly Clarkson, laughing. “I understand because sometimes we say things.”
“I haven’t seen Brad forever and certainly haven’t seen him since he married or was with Angelina, and every time I say something it gets out there and it gets turned around and twisted and all of a sudden I’m saying something about her.”
It did seem, though, like Etheridge was “saying something about her.” On Cohen’s SiriusXM show, Etheridge alleged that Jolie provided TMZ with information about the divorce and said, “It breaks my heart that anyone would take something as personal as your marriage and your relationship and your rights to your children and do it as purposefully as I see it’s being done.” She also called the abuse allegations “completely unfounded” and added, “I was around when Angelina was not doing nice things with Billy Bob to Laura Dern ... I like broke into their home to get their stuff out because it was so nasty.”
But the singer does not seem to be very scared of Jolie’s team at all, because she wrote a song called “The Fixer Blues” and performed it on the show.
“Seems I said some things about an old, old, old friend that’s got some people talkin,’” she began. “Well I know broken hearts, divorce, I’ve been there before once -- okay twice -- and I have not seen my friend in over 10 years and I swear I have never, ever ever, ever, ever met his wife.”
“I ain’t pickin’ no fight, none of my business who’s wrong or who’s right,” she continued. “My opinion is mine and you can take that on a dime ... and have a good time on your Google search.”
She concluded with, “When you’re chattin’ with Andy, you better watch what you say.”
Before Etheridge performed the song, Clarkson said she would cover it, so fans can hope for another iteration of “Fixer Blues.”
